Marie-Thérèse, Duchess of Angoulême, was the eldest daughter of King Louis XVI of France and Queen Marie Antoinette. Born on December 19, 1778, she is often remembered for her resilience during the tumultuous period of the French Revolution. After the execution of her parents, she was imprisoned in the Temple Tower and later released in a prisoner exchange. She spent much of her life in exile, advocating for the Bourbon cause. Despite the tragic loss of her family and the hardships she endured, Marie-Thérèse's dignity and steadfastness earned her a respected place in history.
After her release, Marie-Thérèse married her cousin, Louis-Antoine, Duke of Angoulême, the eldest son of the future King Charles X. Together, they sought to restore the Bourbon monarchy. Although their efforts initially met with limited success, her unwavering dedication to her family’s legacy remained evident.

Known as "Madame Royale," she became a symbol of royalty and resilience, garnering respect from monarchists and even some of her political adversaries. 
Even in exile, Marie-Thérèse's influence was significant. She used her experiences to pen several memoirs, which offered a poignant glimpse into the trials and tribulations faced by the French royal family during and after the Revolution. Her writings contributed to the historical understanding of this turbulent era and solidified her stature as a historical figure of importance. 
Despite the many adversities, Marie-Thérèse exemplified strength and perseverance. Her legacy serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Bourbon dynasty and their efforts to reclaim their place in French history. Today, she is remembered not only for her noble birth but also for remarkableitude her fort in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.
